So I'm erratic, sue me!

I know how very erratic my posts are, but you love me anyway, right? I have no excuse except....life. You know how that has a way of sneaking up on you and sucking every minute of your day from you, don't you? Anyway, in addtion to my last post (11 Skin Care Tips), I would like to remind you all to make sure that you remember the tops of your feet when you are applying sunscreen.......my husband, my daughter and I have recently learned this particular lesson the hard way. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far.

11 Skin Care Tips

11 Tips for Healthy Skin

By Jesse Rose Harris Aesthetician - Executive District Manager

1.) Wash face twice daily - DO NOT go to bed without removing makeup. WHY? Your face should be washed in the morning because generally people use a heavier cream at night, and if this is not cleansed off in the morning, skin may appear more oily throughout the day. Your face should be washed at night as well, because dirt, dust, pollution, etc. collect on skin throughout the day. Nighttime is when skin cells regenerate most. If makeup is not removed, skin is unable to regenerate as well as cleansed skin.

2.) Drink plenty of water. WHY? 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. Lack of water is the number one cause of daytime fatigue. The body and skin rely heavily on water to function properly. Water keeps the skin healthy, vital, and attractive, in addition to aiding in many body functions. An easy formula to determine how much water you need daily is to take your body weight and divide by 2. This number, in ounces, is your daily water requirement. For example, if you weigh 160 pounds, you would need to drink 80 ounces (Ten 8 oz. glasses) of water daily.

3.) Always wear sunscreen, even on cloudy days. WHY? UVA rays (aging rays) weaken the skins collagen & elastin fibers, causing wrinkling and sagging. These rays can penetrate glass, water, and clothing. Because UVA rays make up 90 -95 % of the suns UV rays, you can be sure they are getting through even on cloudy days.

4.) Take care of yourself from the inside out. WHY? Healthy skin begins with diet and water intake. It really is true that "You are what you eat." Vitamins aid in healing, softening, and fighting diseases of the skin.

5.) Eliminate regularly. WHY? Potentially harmful toxins and waste trapped in your body will manifest themselves in your skin. Not to mention it can lead to poor digestion and illness. Try our Herbal Colon Cleanse and Just Go! Fiber Shake.

6.) Use tepid, NOT hot water to wash your face. WHY? Hot water can irritate sensitive skin, it can also the pH of skin.

7.) Exfoliate regularly. Body and face. WHY? Removing dead skin cell layers from the surface of the skin can treat a variety of problems. Exfoliating regularly helps keeps skin smooth. Also, exfoliation ensures that your skin care products are working on the epidermis rather than on a layer of dead skin cells. Be careful, too much or too rough exfoliation can lead to irritation.

8.) When cleansing or applying products, always remember to go up & out. WHY? Skin naturally sags as you age, there's no reason to help it along by pulling down on your facial muscles. Moving up and out will help keep your skin firm.

9.) NEVER pick at acne lesions. WHY? If the comedone is closed and you squeeze it, it will force bacteria down into the dermis. If it is open, warm compresses will help open the pore, and clay masks will help clean it out.

10.) Avoid stress and strive to learn healthy ways to handle stress. WHY? Stress plays a part in our health, which is reflected by skin's appearance. Stress may lead to increased sebum production and acne breakouts. To reduce stress, be sure to maintain a healthy diet, get a proper amount of sleep, and exercise.

11.) Maintain hormone levels. WHY? Hormone imbalances may lead to many skin problems, including: sensitivity, dehydration, hyperpigmentation, acne and microcirculation issues. To maintain hormone levels, try our Prolief and Phyto Prolief Balancing Creams.
